Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled in connection with ScreenMark for macOS and its companion app ScreenMark Remote for iOS (together, "the Apps"), both distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. The data controller is Mustafa Cerit ("the Developer", "we", "us"). For any matter relating to this Policy or to the processing of personal data, contact us at apple@mustafacerit.com.

This Policy applies only to the Apps and to processing carried out directly by the Developer through the Apps. It does not apply to Apple Inc.'s processing of your data as operator of the App Store and StoreKit, which is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

Neither app collects personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, and no advertising identifiers. The Developer operates no server, database, or cloud infrastructure that receives data from the Apps. The Apple Privacy "Nutrition Label" for both apps is therefore set to "Data Not Collected".

2. Data stored locally on your device

Your preferences and settings, the cached Pro entitlement state, and security-scoped bookmarks for any export folders you choose are stored locally on your device, inside the App's sandbox container, using the standard UserDefaults and security-scoped bookmark mechanisms provided by the operating system. Snapshots and recordings are written only to the location you select when you export them. On iPhone, ScreenMark Remote also stores a small pairing token in the iOS Keychain so it can reconnect to a computer you have already trusted. This information never leaves your device as a result of the Apps' normal operation, and the Developer has no technical means to access it.

3. Network connections initiated by the Apps

ScreenMark for macOS performs outbound network requests only in these two cases, and to no other destination:

• App Store & StoreKit. Purchases, receipt validation, restoration, and Pro entitlement checks are performed by Apple through the StoreKit framework.
• Update check. The App queries Apple's public iTunes lookup endpoint (itunes.apple.com/lookup) using only the App's public bundle identifier, to detect whether a newer version is available. No personal data is transmitted in this request.

ScreenMark Remote for iOS makes no internet connection for its core function. It communicates only with your own computer over Apple's Multipeer Connectivity framework — a local, peer-to-peer link over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on your local network. Pairing and all control messages are exchanged over this encrypted on-device link; nothing is sent to the Developer or to any server.

Neither app contains any third-party SDK for analytics, advertising, attribution, A/B testing, crash reporting, or marketing automation.

ScreenMark Remote requests no microphone, camera, photo, location, or contacts access.

4. In-app purchases

ScreenMark Pro is available as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The purchase, the validation of the purchase receipt, and any later restoration are processed exclusively by Apple Inc. through StoreKit. The Developer does not receive your name, email address, postal address, payment instrument details, Apple ID, or any other personal data in connection with the transaction. The Developer only obtains, on the device and through StoreKit, an anonymous indication of whether the Pro entitlement is currently active.

5. Categories of data and purposes of processing

For the purposes of Articles 13 and 14 GDPR, the categories of data involved and their purposes are:

• Local configuration data (preferences, security-scoped bookmarks, entitlement cache): processed locally for the sole purpose of letting the App work according to your settings. The Developer has no access to it.
• Screen and audio content: processed only while you actively use a capture feature (zoom, freeze, snip, recording), held in memory for that session, and written to disk only when you explicitly export. Never transmitted to the Developer.
• Purchase entitlement status: processed locally to enable Pro features. The underlying transaction data is processed by Apple Inc., not by the Developer.

6. Legal bases for processing

Where the limited processing described above qualifies as processing of personal data under the GDPR, the legal bases relied upon are:

• Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) — for processing strictly necessary to deliver the functionality you have actively requested and to enable in-app purchases through StoreKit.
• Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests) — for the technically necessary update check described in Section 3. Given the absence of any persistent storage, identifier, or transmission to the Developer, the impact on you is minimal.

No processing carried out by the Developer relies on consent, as no consent-based processing takes place.

7. Recipients of data

The Developer shares no personal data with any third party, for the simple reason that the Developer does not collect, receive, or hold personal data in connection with the App. The only technical recipient of the network requests described in Section 3 is Apple Inc., in its capacity as operator of the Mac App Store, StoreKit, and the iTunes lookup endpoint. Apple acts as an independent controller for any data it collects through those requests, governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

8. International transfers

Because no personal data is transmitted to the Developer, the Developer carries out no international transfer. Where the technical requests described in Section 3 reach Apple servers located outside your country or region, those transfers are carried out by Apple under its own legal framework, governed by the Apple Privacy Policy and the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission where applicable.

9. Retention

Configuration data stored locally by the App is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed, or until you delete it through the App's interface or by uninstalling the App. The Developer does not retain any personal data on its own systems, as it operates none.

10. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

To the extent that any processing of your personal data takes place, you are entitled, under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR, to: access your data; obtain rectification of inaccurate data; obtain erasure ("right to be forgotten"); obtain restriction of processing; obtain portability; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw any consent previously given. Because the Developer holds no personal data about you, the most effective way to exercise these rights over information stored locally by the App is to delete the relevant data inside the App or to uninstall the App. You may also contact the Developer at apple@mustafacerit.com with any request, and we will respond within the time limits set by applicable law. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

11. Children

ScreenMark is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because the App collects no data, it is suitable for use by all age groups.

12. Security

The Apps rely on standard operating-system protections: the App Sandbox, the hardened runtime, security-scoped bookmarks, the iOS Keychain, and HTTPS for every outbound request. ScreenMark Remote's connection to your computer runs over Apple's encrypted Multipeer Connectivity link and is authorised with a one-time pairing code. We run no server and store no user data, so there is nothing to breach on our side.

13. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated from time to time, in particular to reflect changes in the App or in applicable legislation. The current version is identified by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and is published at the URL configured as the Privacy Policy URL in the App's Mac App Store listing.
