🔒 The short version
ScreenMark does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or usage information. Everything stays entirely on your Mac.
1. Overview
ScreenMark ("the App") is a macOS application for screen annotation, zoom, whiteboard, freeze frame, and recording. Your privacy is fundamental to how the App was designed.
This Privacy Policy describes how ScreenMark handles information. There is very little to describe: we do not collect any data.
Information ScreenMark handles
-
Local settings & diagnostics
Preferences, entitlement cache, and local events are stored on your Mac only to support the app experience.
-
Screen & audio data
Used only when you activate a capture feature (zoom, freeze, snip, recording). Never stored beyond the running session unless you explicitly export.
-
App Store purchase data
Subscriptions are processed by Apple via StoreKit. ScreenMark reads entitlement state from the App Store to unlock Pro features.
What ScreenMark does not do
-
No user account required
You never need to sign in to use ScreenMark.
-
No ScreenMark cloud upload
Screen content, recordings, annotations, and exports are never sent to a ScreenMark server.
-
No keystroke logging
Accessibility access is used for shortcut handling only — not to record typed content.
2. macOS Permissions
ScreenMark requests the following permissions:
Screen Recording
Required for zoom, freeze, snip, and recording. The App does not capture anything until you activate a feature.
Microphone
Required only when you enable microphone capture during a recording session. You control when it is active.
Accessibility / Input Monitoring
Used for global hotkeys only — so the overlay can react while you work in another app. Not used to log keystrokes.
3. Third-Party SDKs & Analytics
ScreenMark does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. No external frameworks transmit data.
4. Mac App Store
ScreenMark is distributed via the Apple Mac App Store. Apple may collect anonymous diagnostics through the App Store platform, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. ScreenMark has no access to data collected by Apple.
5. Data Retention
Files you export or record stay wherever you save them on your Mac. ScreenMark holds no copies on any server.
6. Children's Privacy
ScreenMark does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Because the App collects no data, it is safe for use by all age groups.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this URL. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects any revision.
