Permissions

  • Screen Recording

Required for zoom, freeze frame, recording, and snapshot export. Grant in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, then relaunch the app.

  • Microphone

Required only when you enable microphone capture in a recording session. Grant in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

  • Accessibility / Input Monitoring

Used for global hotkeys so the overlay reacts while you work in another app. Grant in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Purchases & Restore

Eligible new subscribers can start with a 7-day App Store trial on monthly or yearly Pro plans.

  • Restore purchases

ScreenMark Remote (iPhone)

ScreenMark Remote is a free companion app that turns your iPhone into a presentation remote for ScreenMark on your computer. It needs ScreenMark Pro active on the computer, and both devices on the same local network.

  • Local Network

Required so the Remote can find and connect to your computer. Allow it in Settings → ScreenMark Remote → Local Network on your iPhone.

  • Motion & Fitness

Used only for the optional Air Mouse, so moving your phone steers the Mac cursor. Allow it in Settings → ScreenMark Remote → Motion & Fitness.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start drawing on my screen?
Click the ScreenMark icon in your menu bar to open the toolbar, then select the pen or any drawing tool. Your cursor changes to confirm drawing mode is active. Draw freely on top of any content.
How do I clear all annotations?
Use the eraser tool to remove individual strokes, or click the Clear All button in the toolbar. You can also press ⌘Z to undo the last stroke.
What is Whiteboard Mode?
Whiteboard Mode covers your screen with a solid white (or black) canvas, turning your display into a virtual whiteboard. Perfect for teaching, explaining concepts, or live sketching without switching apps.
Does ScreenMark record my screen without me knowing?
No. ScreenMark requests Screen Recording permission to display its overlay — it never captures, records, or saves screenshots unless you explicitly start a recording session. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I use ScreenMark during Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet?
Yes. ScreenMark's overlay is visible to remote participants during screen sharing on Zoom, Teams, Meet, and similar apps. This makes it ideal for remote teaching, live demos, and async walkthroughs.
Zoom or recording won't start — what should I do?
Confirm Screen Recording permission is granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording. After granting, quit ScreenMark from the menu bar and relaunch it — permissions take effect after a restart.
Does ScreenMark support multiple monitors?
Yes. The drawing overlay follows your cursor to whichever display is active. You can switch between monitors freely during a session.
My Pro subscription isn't showing as active — how do I fix it?
Open ScreenMark Settings → Purchases and tap Restore Purchases. If the issue persists, ensure you're signed into the correct Apple ID in the App Store, then try restoring again.
What audio formats does screen recording support?
Recording exports to MP4 or MOV with microphone and/or system audio. GIF recording is silent. Verify your audio toggles in the recording panel before you start to ensure the correct sources are captured.
How do I quit ScreenMark?
Right-click (or Control-click) the ScreenMark icon in your menu bar and select Quit, or use the Quit option inside the toolbar panel.
How do I connect ScreenMark Remote on my iPhone?
Open ScreenMark on your computer, then launch ScreenMark Remote on your iPhone — keep both on the same Wi-Fi / local network. The first time, the iPhone shows a one-time code; confirm it matches the code shown on your computer and approve the connection there. After that, the Remote reconnects to that computer automatically.
Do I need ScreenMark Pro to use the iPhone remote?
Yes. ScreenMark Remote is a free companion app, but the remote-control features unlock automatically when ScreenMark Pro is active on your computer. There is no separate purchase on the iPhone.
My iPhone can't find my computer — what should I check?
Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi / local network, that ScreenMark is running on the computer, and that you've allowed Local Network access for ScreenMark Remote in iPhone Settings → ScreenMark Remote. Staying physically near the computer helps the peer-to-peer link connect. Toggling Wi-Fi off and on, or relaunching either app, usually resolves discovery issues.
Is the connection between my iPhone and computer secure?
Yes. ScreenMark Remote talks only to your own computer over Apple's encrypted Multipeer Connectivity link — there is no server and no internet connection for the remote itself. First-time pairing is confirmed with a one-time code, and trust is then remembered with a token stored securely in the iOS Keychain.
